“Chilombo” is the third studio album by Jhené Aiko and also the first album I’ve listened to from her. I’m a fan honestly, do I think the album is amazing ? Yes! But I think some of her songs could have done without the features. I wasn’t really a fan of her music hence why this is the first album I’ve heard from her, not because I didn’t like her songs but I just didn’t vibe with it.
Okay let’s start with the features, in my opinion “one way street” *featuring Ab-Soul*, and “Surrender” featuring Dr.Chill could have been bangers without having these two featured on it. Personally I don’t like how Ab-Soul raps but to each it’s own. And Dr.Chill just wasn’t the right vibe for “surrender”……. maybe The Weeknd?

I really like the album as a whole but the songs that really stood out were “B.S.”(ft. H.E.R), “P*$$Y FAIRY (OTW)”, “Trynna Smoke”, and of course “Happiness Over Everything(H.O.E)” (ft.Future &Miguel). I love H.E.R’s verse on “B.S” because we love hoetivities.”Trynna smoke” was just a feel good song for us smokers out here. I never thought in a million years Future would be featured on a Jhené song because they just seem to be from different worlds(music wise) but the song actually bangs! We love our misogynistic king Future in this house. Miguel didn’t really stand out in my opinion, he kind of faded in the background.
Now to absolutely rave about the infamous “P*$$Y FAIRY(OTW)”. I love this song, even though I think the first part of the song could’ve been a song by itself but we’ll have that conversation later Jhené. The instrumentals and vocals is so good, it’s like having an angel whisper in your ears softly. We live a nasty bitch in this house okay “I like to suck when I’m drunk” like she really speaks for the girls. All girls can relate thats why it’s so popular, it’s such an amazing feeling when you can relate to a song, females love songs the can relate to.
Can we talk about how good our sis sounds ? She doesn’t feel the need to be screaming our ears off (which isn’t a bad thing when done correct), we can feel the emotions and the pain, love that for our broken hearts. But most importantly she gave us amazing “niggas ain’t shit” anthems. I can honestly say “Lotus” is probably one of my favorite intros for an album, she really went of with that song.
Yes I know, we have to talk about the line that made women all over twitter get jealous of Jhené. So Big Sean claimed to have made her cum 9 times in one day! Which for most women sound like heaven because most men can barely make a woman cum once. But that’s a conversation for another time. Sometimes I think Big Sean shouldn’t have been featured, but that’s only sometimes. His verse makes sense because of the nature of their relationship so it works.
I love that she gave us 20 good songs, because the girlies not doing it like that anymore, a well thought out album with some good features. To be able to deliver 20 good songs is a skill set that a lot don’t have. I’d rate her album 8/10.
